Reinstate Allegiant Ft. Lauderdale flight
I am surprised and dismayed to learn that Allegiant Air announced discontinuance of its service from Huntington to Ft. Lauderdale. This direct service, which has enjoyed nearly full capacity ridership, has been a wonderful asset to our family, Huntington and many folks who travel from nearby states to avail themselves of this service.
Personally, I am thrilled that my 90-year-old mother, who lives in Fort Lauderdale, has had direct air service to Huntington. With her difficulty in walking and hearing, changing planes is a trying situation that we dealt with in the past and thought we were finished worrying about. While not my preference, I would be willing to pay somewhat higher airfare if that would enable us to retain the highly desirable non-stop service.
I ask those who have taken advantage of this direct service, and all who care about our local air service, to write to the airline urging it to reconsider its decision and continue direct flights between Huntington and Fort Lauderdale. If Allegiant receives an outpouring of interest from us, it is possible that this wonderful benefit may continue. Letters should be addressed to: Allegiant Customer Relations, P. O. Send Congress a message at polls
Does anyone think that there is a chance that our elected politicians in Washington will ever be able to sit down together and do the job that they were elected to do? That is to do what is best for our country, not what is best for the party. They have spent so much time the last several years trying to destroy the opposite party that they don't have the time or the will to do what is best for the United States of America.
We hear so much about "change," but the only way to make a change is to vote against every one of them running for re-election. If we were to do that for a couple of elections, I think Washington would finally get the message and start working more for the country than for the party.
Let's try it this November and see if it helps. It can't hurt.
