Take time to learn about fracking

I am now retired from the oil and gas business, but while I was active I drilled over 500 wells in West Virginia and Ohio. All of them were fracked and none of them harmed the area or formations around them in any way.

If people understood exactly what happens when a well is fractured, they would have NO concerns about causing any damage to other wells or the well site. Please take the time to talk to an oil and gas man or an engineer and get the true facts about fracturing wells and you will understand and will be able to see the tremendous benefit to be realized from the current horizontal drilling boom.

There is enough gas available from the horizontal drilling to provide all of us access to natural gas for many years at a reasonable cost.

New gun laws will not increase safety

I firmly oppose the gun-control legislation proposed by Dianne Feinstein. Her legislation, if enacted, would be burdensome to law-abiding citizens. Supporters of gun-control have their hearts in the right place because they want to prevent future tragedy. However, their efforts to legislate their way to a utopian society are shortsighted and naive.

Criminals are not inclined to obey laws and a ban on certain weapons will be ignored by people who do not respect the law. For example, criminals sell crack cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine every day even though the substances are illegal.

New laws will not increase our safety but they will limit our ability to defend ourselves. Americans will need to act swiftly to preserve our right to bear arms by actively opposing the gun-control initiatives brokered by Dianne Feinstein and the Obama administration. I urge you to stay politically active by voting in every election, writing to your elected representatives, and supporting organizations like the National Rifle Association.

I will leverage every resource at my disposal to fight efforts to pass any new gun-control laws and I ask you to do the same.
