New levy won't improve education
Vote "No" on the Wayne County school levy on Dec. 15. This levy will support a $33 million bond with a 15 year payback at 6 percent interest.
Have prior bonds helped our children? No. In fact our children's educations are below par. It also leaves our children in the dark, rain, snow and bus rides to and from school.
In 1989 the School Building Authority was established with its sole purpose to sell bonds and distribute money based on the need for building and maintenance. Rather, it forced school consolidations down the throats of the taxpayers. Our money, the taxpayers' money. This government agency was led by bureaucrats and unions while our kids are still in the basement on education while the School Building Authority refused to maintain the Kenova Grade School for a burst water pipe!
It seems I have heard the names Manchin and Miss Marple McGraw before. Was this lady fired for wrongdoing or because she wouldn't go along with certain things proposed by the school board? Just asking?
Remember we have levies to pay already until 2016.
Be patient with newspaper carriers
The newspaper carriers are doing a good job.
Sometimes the newspapers are delayed because of a machinery breakdown at The Herald-Dispatch or late-night events. This causes the papers to be delivered to the carriers late, which causes customers' delivery to be late.
Some late deliveries are not their fault. Carriers are doing the best job they can.
Please be patient!
Columnist wrong about the Bible
I thank God that Mitt Hankins is a retired minister and no longer spreading his theories in a church. What makes him think he is wiser than the Bible? Who appointed him God? That's what he claims to be when he said, and I quote, "The Bible contains mistakes and inconsistencies," and is "Untenable." Actually we don't defend the Bible, it defends itself. He also said he is "comfortably morphed" into a happy liberal!
Another quote worth mentioning is, "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord pondereth the hearts." This quote is from the King James Bible. Mitt, you should buy one of these, maybe, just maybe, you would believe. Or have your years of critiquing, sorting and omitting verses hardened your heart?
Believing is by faith. It doesn't matter one iota what man may think. God set the standard and made the rules. Our position is to believe.
