Country should fight the cost of oil
I am still having difficulty understanding why our American-owned oil companies can charge us the same price for oil as OPEC.
It seems to me it would be much less expensive to provide oil here at home rather than half way around the world. It also seems to me that we could reduce the price of gas by quite a bit if we insisted that American companies only take a reasonable profit and stop setting records for profits made yearly.
Our government sees this too, but does nothing to stop it. I am certainly tired of watching oil companies rape the public and think we need to find a way to stop this robbery.
If America as a whole was to let everyone know that we will only buy oil for $50 per barrel and no more, something would probably get done.
They may tell us that they cannot sell it to us for that price, but in a few weeks when they don't, they will be swimming in oil. Once they have oil stockpiled all around, they will have to sell to us at our price or drown.
So, come on America, lets stop this robbery and take control of our own future like the free country we are supposed to be.

Rahall's 'stand' produced nothing
Mr. Rahall's current barrage of television ads whereby he stresses that he "stood up" to President Obama on the matter of the mining of coal is very amusing.
The latest news from the media announces more layoffs. This time it is Alpha Natural Resources affecting the employment of miners in several states, including ours.
What part of Mr. Rahall's "stand" had any effect on the industry that has provided good-paying jobs for our miners and ancillary support for the communities they live in?
What message should the voters take away from his dialogue?
It is time for West Virginians to hold Mr. Rahall responsible for his verbiage. Empty words should have consequences.
