Corruption persists in U.S. politics

Does anyone out there think the government knows what is good for us? They don't even live in the same world. Let's take one of our own state representatives. Does anyone think Jay Rockefeller has ever opened a can of potted meat, had to have bologna sandwiches for dinner, had Kool-aid? Yet he actually thinks he connects with us?

Politicians stand for one thing: themselves. They will say anything to get elected. Let's see them vote on term limits for themselves. You will not see that, although they do like voting on salary increases for themselves.

How about this idea for salaries for senators, congressman and the president? The salary of the president will be based on the median income of the country. The senators' and congressmen's salaries will be based on the median income of their home state. You will never see that happen. Why? I think we all know the answer.

The sad thing is that the voice of the people means NOTHING. All we can do is write to columns like this and vent, because when we vote one corrupt politician out, another takes his place.

Lord help the United States!
