I take great pride in my role as director of alumni relations for Marshall University. I have many fond memories of my years as an undergraduate and graduate student at this university. The goal of promoting our university throughout the country and maintaining the connection with our alumni is vitally important.
Last month, we celebrated that connection with our alumni by holding our 71st annual Alumni Weekend. It was a tremendous success thanks to the support and participation of the Marshall community and the Marshall faithful.
The Marshall University Alumni Association welcomed back to our beautiful campus hundreds of graduates and friends to help us celebrate in style.
Marshall University is home to many fond memories for our alumni. We appreciate the support of the community as we take the opportunity each year to focus on the distinguished accomplishments of our graduates and honor the efforts of our current students through the awarding of scholarships and grants.
We also take the opportunity of Alumni Weekend to further advance the goals of the university and our community. Again, we thank our alumni, faculty, staff and students who make this all possible.
This year's celebration, as usual, was highlighted by the annual awards banquet, which was attended by more than 300 friends of Marshall.
Hopefully, those of you who attended Alumni Weekend 2008 can add these activities to your list of cherished memories at Marshall. We already are looking forward to seeing you again this year at one of our upcoming events, especially at homecoming on Saturday, Nov. 15.
