Steelers fan says enjoy the game

In response to the letter regarding why WOWK shows the Steelers games instead of the Bengals.

First of all this is Steeler country, not Bengals territory. Second of all, people like to watch a winner, not a winner every 10 years, so sit back and enjoy the game and enjoy watching a champion.

Go Steelers.

Both parties to blame for $1.4 trillion debt

The Republicans are blaming the Democrats for the $1.4 trillion national debt, and the Democrats are blaming the Republicans. It seems as if, just maybe, both political parties are to blame. Anyone with horse sense should know that the reasons for the deficit are many and varied.

In the first place, the Republican party gave a huge tax relief gift to the super rich. The money, at least in part, was stolen from the Social Security fund. This, I believe, had an impact on the Fed stating that we had negative inflation in 2008. Secondly, as long as we trade with the rest of the world at a loss, we are bound to run out of money some time. Both parties are to blame for this. Now, President Obama seems determined to spend as if the well will never run dry.

The solution is simple: Cancel all trade agreements wherein we are losing money. (Why would we, once the greatest food-producing country in the world, be importing food from 35 different countries?) Bring all troops home immediately from all foreign countries. Place the National Guard on the borders, sea ports and airports, protecting the nation from illegal drugs, illegal people and all other bad things that are entering the country. Throw all the illegal aliens out now and never let them return.

All of these actions would have been taken long ago were it not for the profit people in high places are making from all the illegal activity. Don't let anyone mislead you into thinking that our leaders are interested in our security. If they were, they would be doing something positive instead of wrecking the economy with foolish adventures that produce nothing but more trouble. Does anyone else see this in the same light?

House finally moves in right direction

The vote to reform health care in America took a first step forward on Nov. 7 with the U.S. House passing a historic bill. The vote was slim by any standards, but it was the first step in an effort to tackle the long-ignored situation. Finally, enough members of the House felt compelled to do something to correct the problems that plague health care in this country.

For once, the big dollar interests did not win the day. For once, the good of the people won out over the money of lobbyists who have fought to continue their massive profits and unbridled control they have held for so long. In Kentucky, we would have hoped that our Congressman Davis would have looked to the good of the people and supported health care reform. Sadly, he did not, as was the case with most of the Kentucky representation. Thank you to the brave members of our representation who did.

I would hope, and yes pray, that Congressman Davis and others of the Congressional representation from across the Tri-State of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia would step up and seize the moment as the compromise legislation begins to form for the final vote sometime in the near future. I would hope and pray as well, that the good of all of the people of this great land would override the greed and power of special interests that seek to continue their control over the lives of everyday common people of these United States.

I urge all parties and interests to place politics aside and take stock of the needs of ALL Americans. The system we have is broken! Please give us the chance to change it.
