God has purpose in awful events
I cannot begin to explain Hurricane Sandy striking the northeast or all of the various shootings we have seen in the news, but I read in Isaiah 45:7 where God says, "I make peace and create evil."
God has purpose in these awful events. We do not know what His purpose is. We do know that God is in charge of mundane affairs.
It is up to us to trust and pray and help our fellows when we can. The test is for us to learn how we react to misfortune.

Politicians must protect our country
It might be time to hold what is proper to search for means to improve the working of the political system in our country. There is evidence that caution and hesitancy reform is difficult and complex undertaking, while proposals for wholesale change involving major constitutional revision are considered unrealistic. Adjustments to government mechanisms must match existent developments. Government institutions are viewed as components of a system affecting and affected by needs and changes in society and the government as a whole.
The government system in our country is a product of deeper social and political forces. It seems to be irreversible and beyond human control. The effort to transfer bits and pieces of one political system to another is seen to be impossible for the very reason that is right to use the word system. Our country is becoming aware of limitations of political systems and the difficulties and dangers existing in our politically troubling features.
The existing protection of one political party and ignoring the needs of our country is a bad system. They are elected to protect our country and our citizens, not protect their party and special interest groups that try to influence the introduction of voting on the wrong legislation lucrative to a few.
