Mark Caserta: Look out, America, here come the liberals
There's a new day dawning, and we'd better prepare ourselves for the impending liberal onslaught.
Understand the liberal loons feel vindicated and believe the American people have finally come out of the closet and shown their far-left colors by electing the most liberal president ever to grace the White House colonnade. Those far left of center who were once "oppressed" by values and principle are crawling out from under the rocks to pursue the liberal agenda they feel has been suppressed by the Bush administration for the past eight years.
The liberal "to do list" is long, and they've languished in the air of conservatism long enough. It's time to drop their drawers and shoot the whole world the moon!
On the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which will likely become a national holiday in the Obama administration, Barack Obama released the following statement:
"Thirty-five years after the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, it's never been more important to protect a woman's right to choose. ... Throughout my career, I've been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had a 100 percent pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America."
He will continue that consistency with the Freedom of Choice Act.
The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) -- or the "Right to Murder Act" -- will be one of the first major pieces of legislation Barack Obama will sign in 2009.
"The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'd do," Obama announced while speaking to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in July of 2007.
The FOCA will effectively nullify any laws that would restrict abortion, including "partial-birth" and even "live-birth" abortions and overturn the Hyde Amendment prohibiting taxpayer-funding of abortion. It will overthrow laws restricting government funding of abortion, limits on abortion in public or military facilities, full-disclosure counseling requirements and bans on partial-birth abortion.
It will literally be "abortion on demand," only one of many changes in a liberal world.
In a liberal world, the sanctity of marriage will have a multitude of meanings. The "who, what, when, where and how many" will be all inclusive and no "bond" will be discriminated against. While Obama does not personally support gay marriage, he does support legislation that allows it.
Next is the dismantling of our right to bear arms. The NRA levels that Obama is a "serious threat to our Second Amendment liberties" and opposes four of the five Supreme Court justices who affirmed an individual's right to keep and bear arms.
A good lead-in to potentially the most devastating change in our country: the upcoming Supreme Court appointments. Ruth Bader Ginsburg and John Paul Stevens have been propped up in their leather courtroom chairs waiting on the inauguration of a liberal president so they can step aside knowing their seat will be filled by another left-wing "legislate from the bench" liberal "interpretationalist."
Better dig in deep and get a foothold, America.
Here come the libs.
