Arella Muncey worked at The Herald-Dispatch from 1949 until 1992. Over the years, she worked a teletype machine and as a proofreader. In the picture, she is working the switchboard on the evening shift. In the days before computers, she would often go to the Memorial Field House on Fifth Avenue or Fairfield Stadium with sports reporters and type the report of the ball games on the teletype machine as the games were in progress.
