No. 2 Casey Baker

2007-08 (Junior): Named to 2007-08 All-Conference USA Defensive Team....named C-USA Player of the Week on Dec. 17, 2007....led C-USA averaging 3.23 steals per game in the regular season....started 32-of-33 games....led team in steals (105), assists (137), free throws (95) and FT attempts (138)....was second on the Herd in points (392), scoring average (11.9 PPG), blocked shots (14) and minutes/game (30.5).
Prior to Marshall: Attended Lincoln Trail (Ill.) Community College...named to the All-Area Team in 2005...career leader at Lincoln Trail with 346 career assists, 188 single season assists, 275 career steals and 163 single season steals...All-American Honorable Mention...Lincoln Trail's only player to notch a quadruple double...went to Bradenton Southeast HS.
Personal: Born Feb. 4, 1986...daughter of Donna Smith...has four brothers and one sister...major is psychology.
No. 21 Alix Barnette
Guard, 5-8, Jr.

2007-08 (Sophomore): Saw action in 31 games, starting two...second on the Herd in three-point shots with 20 and attempts (68)....fifth in steals (19), FT% (.681) and free throws (32)....reached double-digits in scoring on six difference occasions.
2006-07 (Freshman): Played in 26 games as a true freshman, including two starts...scored 5.2 points per game (7th on team)...third on team in free throw percentage (68.9).
High School: Attended East Chapel Hill HS...averaged 20 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals per game...named Co-MVP of the PAC 6 Conference as a senior...set an East Chapel Hill school record with a 40-point game as a senior...won back-to-back state championships for the AAU Garner Flames.

Prior to Marshall: Attended Southwest Tennessee Community College...averaged 17 points as a high school senior and was named to the Arkansas AAAAA All-State team...made The Commercial Appeal's Best of the Preps All-Metro Team.
Personal: Born Jan. 13, 1988...daughter of Issac and Sheila Ellis.

2007-08 (Freshman): Played in 30 games as a freshman, starting in 26....named to the 2008 Conference USA All-Tournament team....after notching two double-doubles in regular season, recorded three in as many tournament contests....led MU with 28 blocked shots, an average of 0.93 per game...led Herd with 6.1 rebounds per game.
High School: Attended Detroit John J. Pershing HS...rated as the No. 26 power forward in the nation by the All Star Girls Report...averaged 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks...voted city of Detroit East Region MVP by Detroit coaches...first team All-Detroit Public School honoree and was named to the All-Detroit Free Press team...also recruited by Indiana, Marquette, Wisconsin and Oakland.

No. 32 Alyssa Hammond
Forward, 6-1, Jr.
Oak Hill, Ohio
2007-08 (Sophomore): Played in all 33 games for MU in 2007-08, starting 26 contests....averaged 10.0 points per game, third best on the team....scored 331 points, coupled with 218 as a freshman, currently stands at 549 for her career....grabbed 4.2 rebounds per game, fifth on the Herd....Free throw shooting percentage 74.6.
2006-07 (Freshman): Named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team...ranked second on team in field goal percentage (42.1) and fourth in scoring (7.3 ppg, 8th among C-USA freshmen)...sank 37.5 percent of her 3-point field goal attempts (21-of-56).
2005-06: Missed season because of a knee injury.
High School: A two-time All-State performer at Oak Hill HS...averaged 28.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game her senior year...named the Ohio Div. III Player of the Year, Southern Ohio Conference and District Player of the Year after junior and senior campaigns...Oak Hill's all-time leading scorer with 1,897 points...set the Oak Hill single-game scoring mark with 52 points...ranked the 48th best guard/forward by the All-Star Girls Report.
Personal: Born March 23, 1987...daughter of Hayden Leon and Mae Hammond...has two brothers, Luke (12) and Chase (6), and a sister, Shae (8)...lists Lance Armstrong as her biggest role model...career ambition is to become a physician...biology/pre-med major.
No. 22 Chantelle Handy
Guard, 6-3, Jr.
Durham, England
2007-08 (Sophomore): Played with British basketball in summer once again....played in all 33 of Marshall's games in 2007-08 starting 30....averaged 26.4 minutes per games, third on the team....grabbed 5.2 boards per game...had 111 defensive rebounds...finished season third on the team, dishing out 47 assists.
2006-07 (Freshman): Appeared in every game as a redshirt freshman, including starts in first five collegiate games en route to 17 total starts...dished out 2.3 assists per C-USA game (2nd on team)...one of six players to average at least 20 minutes per game (20.8).
2005-06: Was ruled a partial-qualifier by the NCAA and forced to sit out season.
High School: Attended Prodhoe Community HS in Durham, England, through 10th grade before moving to Wheeling, W.Va., to enroll at Mount de Chantal Academy...ranked the 49th best forward in the nation by the All-Star Girls Report.
Personal: Born June 16, 1987, in England...daughter of Raymond and Jacqueline Handy...has a sister, Chear-lise (22)...hopes to become a physical therapist...lists Denise Lewis as her role model in athletics...adult fitness major.

Prior to Marshall: Spent two years playing for Rend Lake (Ill.) Community College...shot 45.0 percent from the field and 40.0 from 3-point range...averaged 14.5 points...attended Wooddale High School in Memphis where her honors included being named Most Improved Player, Best Defensive Player, team captain and Best of the Preps.

2007-08 (Junior): Appeared in 27 games...13-of-16 from the free throw line for 81.3 percent.
2006-07 (Sophomore): Named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team...appeared in all 30 games with 25 starts...second on team in rebounding (5.9/game, 19th in C-USA), third in minutes (25.4/game), fourth in assists (1.3/game) and steals (1.0/game) and fifth in scoring (7.0 ppg).
2005-06 (Freshman): Appeared in 28 games with four starts...averaged 2.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 12.7 minutes per game.
High School: Played at Paul VI HS...holds school records for points (1,343) and rebounds (983)...averaged 12.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists in her career.
