West Lib, State tops in WVIAC

HUNTINGTON -- Alderson-Broaddus, Pitt Johnstown, West Liberty and West Virginia State were listed as West Virginia Conference men's teams to watch by The Sporting News in its preseason magazine.

Ted Scott from West Virginia State was a preseason NCAA Division II All-America second team selection. Stan Hall from Alderson-Broaddus, Thad McFadden from Fairmont State and Marcus Tullis from Pitt Johnstown were honorable mention picks.

Scott, a 6-foot-2 senior, missed much of last season injured. He averaged 29.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games.

The Columbus, Ohio, native was an All-American in 2006-07, leading the conference with a 27.0 scoring average.

Hall is a 6-3 senior who averaged 17.5 points last season for the Battlers.

McFadden scored 21.4 points a game. The 6-2 senior pumped in 35 against West Virginia State in the WVC tournament.

Tullis, a 6-6 senior, notched 14.3 points and 5.1 rebounds a game.

Alderson-Broaddus (26-7) defeated Pitt Johnstown (23-8) in last season's conference tournament championship game.
