Create West Virginia Conference coming to Huntington

Groups from around West Virginia will head to Huntington on Sunday, Oct. 18, through Tuesday, Oct. 20, for the Create West Virginia conference.

The conference will feature four keynote speakers, as well as sessions discussing education, business, diversity, technology and more. It is expected to attract 500 people.

Most of the sessions will be at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena and other locations in downtown Huntington. Keynote speakers will be Marcus Jardotte, managing director of Public Affairs for NASCAR; David Wiley, associate professor of instructional psychology and technology at Brigham Young University; Anya Kamenetz, staff writer for Fast Company Magazine and author of "Generation Debt;" and Kevin Stolarick, research director of the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto.

West Virginia Public Radio's "Mountain Stage" will host a concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 in the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center. Kathy Mattea, the Ahs, the Songcatchers and Shannon Whitworth will perform.

The cost is $299 for the entire conference, $199 for full-time college students; $119 for half-day tickets.
