  • Friday, Aug. 22: Residence halls open for freshmen, 9 a.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 25: First day of classes
  • Monday, Aug. 25-Friday, Aug. 29: Late registration and add/drop (schedule adjustment)
  • Friday, Aug. 29: Last day to add classes (withdrawals only after this date)
  • Saturday, Aug. 30-Monday, Sept. 1: University computer services unavailable
  • Monday, Sept. 1: Labor Day Holiday, university closed
  • Tuesday, Sept. 2: "W" withdrawal period begins
  • Friday, Sept. 19: Application for December graduation due in academic dean's office
  • Friday, Sept. 26: Last day to drop first eight weeks courses
  • Monday, Oct. 6: Final draft of thesis due in advisor's office
  • Tuesday, Oct. 14: Mid-semester, first eight weeks courses end
  • Wednesday, Oct. 15: Second eight weeks courses begin
  • Monday, Oct. 20: Deadline for submitting freshmen mid-term grades
  • Monday, Oct. 27: Students should schedule appointments with advisors to prepare for advance registration (required for students who have mandatory advising holds).
  • Friday, Oct. 31: Last day to drop a full semester individual course
  • Monday, Nov. 3: Recommended date to apply for May 2009 graduation
  • Monday, Nov. 3-Tuesday, Dec. 9: Complete withdrawals only
  • Monday, Nov. 10-Friday, Nov. 21: Advance registration for spring semester for currently enrolled students
  • Friday, Nov. 14: Last day to drop second eight weeks courses
  • Friday, Nov. 21: Last day for defense of dissertation
  • Saturday, Nov. 22: Residence halls close
  • Monday, Nov. 24-Tuesday, Dec. 16: Advance registration for spring semester open to all admitted/re-admitted students
  • Monday, Nov. 24-Saturday, Nov. 29: Thanksgiving/Fall Break -- classes dismissed
  • Thursday, Nov. 27-Sunday, Nov. 30: University computer services unavailable
  • Thursday, Nov. 27-Friday, Nov. 28: Thanksgiving holiday, university closed
  • Sunday, Nov. 30: Residence halls open at noon
  • Monday, Dec. 1: Classes resume
  • Wednesday, Dec. 3-Tuesday, Dec. 9: "Dead Week"
  • Tuesday, Dec. 9: Last class day and last day to completely withdraw for fall semester
  • Friday, Dec. 5: Last possible date for thesis/dissertation defense
  • Wednesday, Dec. 10: Study day: exams for Wednesday classes 3 p.m. and later will be held
  • Thursday, Dec. 11: Exam day
  • Thursday, Dec. 11: Approved thesis/dissertation must be submitted electronically and all paperwork/checks must be in Graduate College office
  • Friday, Dec. 12: Exam day
  • Saturday, Dec. 13: Exam day for Saturday classes (and some common finals)
  • Monday, Dec. 15: Exam day
  • Tuesday, Dec. 16: Exam day; Fall semester closes; official graduation date for fall semester
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17: Residence halls close at noon
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17-Sunday, Dec. 28: Advance registration/schedule adjustment for spring semester is suspended
  • Thursday, Dec. 18: Deadline for submitting final set of grades
  • Tuesday, Dec. 23-Thursday, Jan. 1: University closed
  • Monday, Dec. 29-Wednesday, Dec. 31: Online registration resumes
