INDUSTRY: Local manufacturers weather difficult times
West Virginia's manufacturers were still busy sending products around the world in 2009, just fewer than the year before, according to the state Department of Commerce. West Virginia exports totaled $4.8 billion in 2009, a 14.5 percent decrease from 2008's record year of $5.6 billion.

Coal a direct, indirect provider of jobs
