JOB DESCRIPTION: In this field of work, preschool teachers have the very important responsibility of preparing children for a real live school setting. Preschool typically includes kids from 2 to 4 years old. Teaching these youngsters communication skills and how to interact with other children is the primary focus. Teaching this young audience the educational basics such as their ABCs and counting to 100 gives them a head start before they enter kindergarten.
EDUCATION NEEDED: A bachelor's degree and experience in childhood education is required. All teachers in the public school system must be certified or licensed in the state they teach.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: The further a teacher extends his or her training and education the more opportunity there is to advance the career. Preschool teachers often go on to teach kindergarten and other higher grades at the elementary level.
