Area medical group expands by adding Occupational Medicine to services

Ohio Valley Physicians, a leading area medical group has further expanded it's services to include specialty care in Occupational Medicine with the addition of Dr. Paul Craig to the group which brings an added facet to this unique area of medicine. Dr. Craig is a Board Certified specialist in Occupational medicine and has over 25 years of experience. Dr. Craig received his training at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta Georgia, The University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas and while serving as a flight surgeon in the United States Air Force.

Occupational medicine services will include multiple types of pre-placement and specialty examinations as well as care of work related injuries and illnesses that may occur in the course of ones employment. Examinations include, Fire, Police, MSHA and Hazmat exams along with respiratory clearances, fitness for duty evaluations as well as task specific clearances such as "back fitness" evaluations. Basic and advanced executive level physicals and exams for preventive biologic monitoring are also offered. Medico legal evaluations such as Independent Medical examinations (IME's), impairment ratings, residual capacity evaluations for social security or other agencies and second opinions will be options also. A focus on preventive medicine and monitoring worker's for safety issues which include hearing (audiometric testing) as well as pulmonary function testing, drug and alcohol screening and advanced biologic monitoring which can be tailored to fit the needs of any specific company will be available. Clearances for DOT, School bus drivers and specialized exams such as SCUBA exams will be available.

Prompt and focused high quality care of work related injuries (under KY, WV and OH worker's compensation as well as railroad, maritime and federal workers compensation) will also be offered with close case monitoring and coordination with companies/agencies to assist in early return to work through aggressive care and therapy as well as advanced diagnostic testing which will be employed when needed to rapidly and appropriately help determine the type of injury and extent of an injury. This will allow use of modified duty programs and the quickest resolution possible of work injuries when they do occur. Detailed impairment ratings and disability assessments can be obtained which when coupled with specific testing and evaluations such as FCE's and vocational evaluations will help delineate where a worker stands after recovering from a work related or even to determine the extent of a non-work related injury in order to assist in return to work determinations and/or other disability issues. Specialized consultative services and expert witness services can be obtained as well when needed.  This blend of services will offer an unprecedented level of care in this highly specialized area of medicine previously unavailable in the Tri-State.
