ONA -- Cabell Midland's football team was backed against the wall, facing two must-win games to punch its ticket to the playoffs.
Midland boys win Class AAA cross country title
ONA -- On Sept. 12, Fairmont Senior won the Class AAA boys title in the Geico Classic and Cabell Midland finished second, 22 points behind the Polar Bears in the 5K race at Cabell Midland High School.

ONA -- Hurricane's Alex Dent achieved a personal goal Saturday under trying conditions.
Cabell Midland spoils Hurricane's Senior Night with 24-7 win
HURRICANE -- Quarterback Michael Brumfield threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score to lead Cabell Midland past Hurricane, 24-7, in the regular-season finale for both teams Friday night at Redskins Stadium.

SVHS defeats Winfield
Spring Valley entered its contest with Winfield having already punched its ticket into the postseason. Facing a team whose season is ending is usually dangerous, but Spring Valley prevailed easily, defeating Winfield, 34-13.

LOGAN, W.Va. -- It was all about getting homefield advantage through the postseason for Class AA top-rated Wayne.
CHARLESTON -- Huntington High had an opportunity for victory slip from its grasp Friday night. Capital overcame a 20-0 halftime deficit to end the Huntington High season with a 28-20 victory on the University of Charleston Stadium artificial turf at Laidley Field.
OAK HILL, Ohio -- Going into Friday night, Coal Grove had averaged 38 points per game by controlling possession and chewing clock.
Midland celebrates track championship
Cabell Midland High School saluted its boys' cross country state championship team Friday in the school gym. The Knights won the title Oct. 31 on their home course. Runners were Jacob Burcham, Tyler Salmons, Ryan Smith, Michael Niemann, Collin Meadows, Steven Egnatoff and David Jobe.
