Prep Notebook: Rivals.com rates Crawford top football prospect in state
HUNTINGTON -- C.J. Crawford, who played quarterback last season at Huntington High, is West Virginia's top college prospect for 2009 on a list compiled by the recruiting Web site Rivals.com.
Crawford enrolled at Nitro High for his senior year.
Offensive lineman Cole Bowers from Cabell Midland is No. 2 on the list. Bowers verbally committed to West Virginia University.
Hurricane linebacker Andrew Fields is also in the top five.

DRUG TESTING: Mandatory student orientation sessions for the drug testing programs at Huntington High and Cabell Midland are Wednesday.
Attendance at the sessions is required for students in grade 9 to 12 who want to play sports or drive to school.
The Cabell Mildland session is 9 a.m. in the school auditorium. The Huntington High session is 1 p.m. in the school auditorium. Orientation sessions will last about two hours.
Students won't be permitted to practice or play for any team, or receive a school parking pass, unless they participate in an orientation session and sign a drug testing consent form.
IT'S HERE: Don't look now, but pigskin is flying all over the place in the Bluegrass State as most all teams in Kentucky started football practice this past week.
In Ohio, practice gets underway on Thursday while West Virginia schools will take the field for their first reps on Aug. 4.
