Highlanders win in extra innings, go 3-0

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Huntington High defeated Champaign Central (Ill.) on Tuesday, 2-1, in an eight inning game.

With runners at first and third in the bottom of the seventh inning, Huntington High's Joey Mundy turned a 6-3 double play to send the game into extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Huntington High's Nate Haikal reached on an error and was knocked in on a Ronnie Musick double to score the winning run.

Isaiah Settles, who pitched the bottom of the eighth in relief of Zach Miller, got the win for the Highlanders (3-0).


WAYNE 1, SCOTT 0: Jessie Rowe pitched a three-hit shutout for Wayne in a 1-0 win over Scott.

Jessica Watts had a lead-off single in the sixth inning, stole second and scored on a one-out double to left field by Jacey Parsons.

Watts and Parsons both had two hits.

Wayne (1-2) has a game scheduled Wednesday at Sissonville.
