Hurricane edges Capital, 23-20

HURRICANE -- Quarterback Austin Hensley directed a long drive in the final minutes Friday and scored on a 1-yard run with nine seconds remaining in Hurricane's 23-20 victory over Capital.

The Redskins (3-2) had a 10-0 halftime edge before Capital (3-2) forged ahead in the third quarter, 13-10.

Hensley passed 24 yards to Koi Turner for a fourth-quarter touchdown and the lead, 17-13, and the Cougars answered again, moving head, 20-17, on Kashaun Haley's 14-yard TD run.

On the winning drive, Zach Pate ran the ball to inside the 1-yard line with 24 seconds left. Hensley needed two carries to get in the end zone.

LOGAN 38, WINFIELD 28: The Wildcats spoiled Homecoming for the Generals.

Khaleel Reynolds gave Logan (5-1) a 12-0 lead, catching touchdown passes of 7 and 87 yards from Chris Marcum.

Bynden Street scored for the Wildcats on a 20-yard pass from Marcum, a 56-yard interception return and a 1-yard run.

Toby Show of the Generals (2-4) threw a pair of TD passes and ran for a score.

All the scoring was in the first half.

Tolsia back Dawson Presley ran for 117 yards, including a 78-yard touchdown.

The Indians are 2-3.

OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE: Coal Grove, Chesapeake and Fairland lead the OVC standings at 1-0 after the first week of play.

Coal Grove (2-3) dusted Rock Hill, 62-7. Fairland (3-3) ripped South Point, 41-6. Chesapeake (2-4) doubled up River Valley, 54-27.

WAHAMA 35, SOUTHERN 7: Kane Roush rushed for 100 yards and scored twice for the Class A No. 4 White Falcons, who improved to 6-0.

Crandale Neal also scored two touchdowns.

Racine Southeren fell to 1-5.

BUFFALO 36, RICHWOOD 6: Jordan Tucker and Laythen Good both scored twice for the Bison (4-1).

Levi Jordan threw two touchdown bombs -- 77 yards to Tucker and 59 yards to Jordan.

Richwood fell to 2-4.

HERBERT HOOVER 19, POCA 16: The Huskies (1-5) broke into the win column.

Cody Farmer took the opening kickoff back 77 yards for a touchdown and Shaun Dotson finished the scoring with a 68-yard TD run.

Poca (3-3) had rushing touchdowns by T.T. Loudiin and Jake Payne.
