Point Pleasant wins, secures playoff spot
POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. — Point Pleasant unofficially secured a Class AAA football playoff berth Friday with a 48-15 victory over Chapmanville.
Chase Walton crossed the goal line four times for the 12th-rated Big Blacks (8-2).
Walton rushed five times for 66 yards including touchdown carries of 10 and 42 yards, Walton caught TD passes from Aden Yates of 38 and 10 yards.
Marquez Griffin ran 10 times for 203 yards in Point Pleasant’s 526-yard total offense performance.
Griffin’s carries included a 70-yard touchdown jaunt.
Yates also completed a 12-yard scoring pass to Brycen Reymond. Yates was good on 7 of 9 attempts for 87 yards.
Teran Barnitz tacked on a 1-yard rushing touchdown.
Class AA Chapmanville (4-6) mustered 214 yards of offense in its final game of the season.
Dustin Smith and Brady Cox of the Tigers scored on passes from Max Spradlin and Brandon White respectively.
