HHS routs Parkersburg

Oct. 19, 2013 @ 01:27 AM

PARKERSBURG — Class AAA No. 1 Huntingon High’s football team filled its highlight reel Friday night.

Huntington High rammed Parkersburg, 55-14, in the Homecoming game for the Big Reds at Stadium Field.

The Highlanders (7-0) fumbled on their first possession, but quickly gained steam and used a series of big plays to put the Big Reds (2-5) away.

Charles Crawford got the rout going by pulling in a 76-yard touchdown pass from Clark Wilson.
Paden Christian’s 60-yard TD burst stretched the lead to 14-0 after one quarter.

Nick Tubbs joined the fun with a 70-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Following a 12-minute delay because the stadium lights went out, Wilson made it a 27-0 lead with a 13-yard scoring carry.

Parkersburg got on the scoreboard at the close of the first half after a Huntington High muffed punt return. The Big Reds cut into the deficit when Stephen Dailey caught a 1-yard TD pass thrown by backup quarterback Josh Trembly.

The Highlanders padded their advantage with third-quarter touchdown runs by Christian and Tubbs of 18 and 3 yards respectively.

Huntington High’s highlight reel continued to run after that. Tubbs sprinted 94 yards for a touchdown, Crawford covered 77 yard sfor another score and it was a 55-7 game still in the third period.

Parkersurg picked up another touchdown on a Dailey reception.

The Highlanders play host to St. Albans next week, play a Nov. 1 home game against South Charleston and finish the regular season Nov. 8 at Winfield.
