Wayne girls top Spring Valley

WAYNE -- Emily Fry and Jacey Parsons each drove in a run and two more came home on wild pitches, helping Wayne to a 4-3 victory over Spring Valley on Thursday.

The Pioneers (14-4) did all their scoring in the first three innings.

Brooke Phillips knocked in two runs and Elex Robertson one for the Timberwolves.

Wayne pitcher Jessie Rowe allowed six hits and struck out four. Phillips gave up five hits.

Wayne takes on Mingo Central at home Friday in a Cardinal Conference doubleheader.

FAIRLAND 11, HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 1: Matt Aliff knocked in a pair of runs and also got the win on the mound for Fairland in a mercy-rule shortened victory over the Irish.

Fairland scored five runs in each of the first and third innings to put things in cruise control.

Josh Ross added a double for the Dragons, who are now 7-5 on the year.
