Coal Grove falls to Paint Valley
COAL GROVE, Ohio -- Wes Parker's 84-yard touchdown return of the second half kickoff was the clincher Friday for Paint Valley in a 20-13 defeat of Coal Grove.
Paint Valley (2-0) led by only 14-13 at halftime.
Coal Grove (0-2) opened the scoring with Oakie Haynes running 6 yards for a first-quarter touchdown and Scott Erwin kicked the extra point. Paint Valley answered with a 4-yard TD run by Colton Morris.
Chris Brammer put the Hornets back in the lead with a 4-yard scoring run in the second quarter.
Paint Valley's Matt Workman had an 11-yard touchdown run before the half.
Haynes led the Hornets with 10 carries for 106 yards. Frank Delawder had 22 rushes for 97 yards and Brammer followed with 11 rushing attempts for 64 yards.
The Hornets had 267 rushing yards, and 10 through the air.
Paint Valley intercepted two Coal Grove passes.

Meigs 26, Fairland 23
POMEROY, Ohio -- Meigs scored 20 points in the second half while blanking the Dragons.
Jacob Well for the Marauders (2-0) scored the clincher on a 55-yard run with 5:13 left in the game.
Well also threw a 55-yard TD pass to Clay Bolin.
Matt Boomfield scored a pair of Fairland touchdowns on carries of 3 and 20 yards.
The Dragons (0-2) also had Nate Burcham kicking a 17-yard field goal and Tyler Duty rushing for a 16-yard touchdown.
Duty's touchdown put Fairland ahead, 23-6, at halftime.
Bloomfield led the Fairland offense with 95 yards on 19 rushes. Blayne Cornwell picked up 55 yards on 10 carries.
Cole Hatfield was 4-of-9 passing for 88 yards. Aaron Ward had two receptions for 70 yards.

Tanner Bratton added a 6-yard TD run and Chase Richardson took a handoff for a 52-yard score.
