Poca star Cottrill leaving for Beckley
BECKLEY — College basketball prospect Noah Cottrill is leaving Poca High School to play for Mountain State Academy as a junior, The Register-Herald newspaper of Beckley reported.
Cottrill made the announcement Tuesday, saying he will be facing better competition.
Mountain State Academy is getting a player ranked No. 45 overall in the Class of 2010 and No. 11 on the list of point guards by Rivals.com. The 6-foot-2 point guard averaged 30.7 points per game and was a Class AA all-state selection last season.
The Falcons will play a national schedule with games against prep power Oak Hill Academy, St. Benedict’s Prep of Newark, N.Y. and The Patterson School of North Carolina.
Cottrill made a verbal commitment to West Virginia University after his freshman season.
