Spring Valley girls win

SPRING VALLEY -- Maddie Morris fired in 22 points Thursday night for Spring Valley in a 62-37 girls basketball victory against Ironton.

Sarah Kelly added nine points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.

The Timberwolves (1-0) heated put up 34 points in the third quarter to pull away.

Ironton (2-2) was led by Lexie Barrier's 15 points.

IRONTON 12 9 9 7 -- 37: Jordan Hannan 4, Keith 2, Taylor Hannan 5, Lexie Barrier 15, Wise 1, Lewis 4, Scott 6.

SPRING VALLEY 14 10 34 4 -- 62: McGraw 3, Kelly 9, Lemons 9, Heck 8, Maddie Morris 22, Ratcliffe 9, Mathis 2.

CHESAPEAKE 64, WEST CARTER 61: Sydnee Hall scored 21 for Chesapeake and made all six of her foul shots in overtime to seal the victory.

Lexie Berry of West Carter (2-2) hit a 3-point shot at the end of regularion.

Jordan Porter of the Panthers (1-0) added 16 points and had seven rebounds. Kaylee Curry's double-double included 14 points and 13 rebounds. Atiya Spaulding made seven steals.

Berry and Brook Adkins both scored 13 for the Comets.

The Panthers play their next game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Gallipolis at the University of Rio Grande.
