Midland hosts Geico Classic

ONA -- The 2013 Geico Classic, the largest cross country meet in West Virginia, is Saturday at Cabell Midland High School.

As of Tuesday, 96 high school and middle school teams bringing more than 1,600 runners were entered.

Divisions are Class AAA and Class AA-A high school, junior varsity and middle school for boys and girls.

Racing begins at 9 a.m. with middle school girls. In Class AAA, the boys will go at 10 a.m. and the girls at 10:35. Junior varsity races for boys and girls are next followed by Class AA-A boys at 12:30 p.m. and girls at 1:10 p.m.

Cabell Midland, the defending Class AAA boys champion, is ranked No. 2 in the RunWV preseason poll. University is No. 1 and not entered in the GEICO.

The Cabell Midland course is the site for the West Virginia High School Championships on Nov. 2.
