George Washington wins Parkersburg golf
VIENNA, W.Va. -- George Washington won the team title and Hurricane's Aaron Barna was medalist in the Parkersburg Country Club Invitational held Monday at the par-72 Parkersburg Country Club. The top three scores among the four players counted.
The Patriots shot 237 to finish two shots up on defending West Virginia Class AAA champion Hurricane. Andrew Skeens paced GW with 77. Elizabeth Frederick and Carl Roncaglione each shot 80.
Barna fired a 74 to lead Hurricane. Brian Anania posted 81 and Sam Booth 84 to give the Redskins 239.
Cabell Midland was third with 241. Korey Goad and Tyler Clay each shot 78 and Brooke Bellomy added an 85.
This was the first event on the Top Flite High School Tournament Series. The next stop is Wednesday at the Wendy's Riverbend Invitational at Riverbend Golf Course in Buckhannon.
