Nicks, DeMoss lead HHS to victory over Riverside, 59-52

BELLE, W.Va. -- Huntington High had Arick Nicks with a double-double and Nathan DeMoss with a lights-out shooting performance Wednesday in a 59-52 boys basketball victory at Riverside.

Nicks had 25 points and 10 rebounds while Demoss scored 12 on 4-for-5 3-point shooting. Chancellor Wooding added 10 points.

Riverside (5-5) was led by Marcus Reed who had 27 points.

The Highlanders (8-2) next play Friday at Winfield.

HUNTINGTON HIGH 9 17 16 17 -- 59: Miller 5, Tubbs 2, Nicks 25, Dunn-Martin 3, Washington 2, Wooding 10, DeMoss 12.

RIVERSIDE 15 13 11 13 -- 52: Reed 27, Lawson 4, Brock 2, Light 6, Wood 3, Womack 4, Butcher 6.

CABELL MIDLAND 59, CAPITAL 56: Coy Petitt hit a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Cabell Midland over the Captial Cougars Wednesday at Capital.

The Knights (4-8) had four players score in double figures, and were led by Sawyer Beckett with 15. Dakota Leonard had 11 while Petitt and Stephen Matthews both scored 10.

Austin Colemand and Carrington Morris scored 18 and 15 respectively for Capital.

Midland next plays Nitro at home Friday.
