Pitkin, Jordan lead Midland girls to rout of Nitro

ONA -- Cabell Midland jumped to a 25-5 lead after the first quarter and went on to defeat Nitro, 52-28, in girls action Thursday night at Cabell Midland.

Emily Pitkin and Sierra Jordan had double-doubles for the Knights. Pitkin hit for a game-high 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jordan totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds. Grace Jarrell dished out 13 assists.

The Knights led 52-17 entering the fourth period, so failing to score didn't matter.

Cabell Midland (9-3) returns to action Saturday at Winfield.

NITRO 5 7 5 11 -- 28: Shamblin 6, Mace 6, Linville 4, Miller 4, Hill 3, Romeo 2, Godby 2, Douglas 1.

CABELL MIDLAND 25 17 10 0 -- 52: Pitkin 15, Jordan 11, Ellis 6, Haggerty 8, McNeely 4, Jarrell 4, Harden 4.

TOLSIA 60, WAYNE 10: Savannah Winnett had 16 points to lead four players in double figures as the Lady Rebels (9-3) routed Wayne (3-8).

Jamie Maynard had 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Krista Maynard finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. She also had 10 steals.

Tolsia's next game is Tuesday at home against Sissonville.

It's a doubleheader for both boys and girls.

Abby Watson led Hurricane with 21 points.

The Redskins return to action Saturday at Spring Valley.
