Maynard goes over 1,000 in Tolsia win

FORT GAY, W.Va. -- Krista Maynard reached a milestone Monday night in leading Tolsia to a 54-49 win over Chesapeake.

Maynard needed 22 points to reach 1,000 for her career and she finished with 30 to surpass that magic mark. She also grabbed 11 rebounds and came up with six steals.

Savannah Winnett added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Rebels (13-3).

Jordan Presley had six assists and eight steals.

Jordan Porter led the Panthers (11-9) with 17 points.

The Rebels outscored the visitors 22-17 in the fourth period to secure the win.

Tolsia's next game is Tuesday at Wayne. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Chesapeake takes on Coal Grove in Ohio Valley Conference play Thursday at home.

CABELL MIDLAND 64, SOUTH CHARLESTON 44: Emily Pitkin and Sierra Jordan each recorded double-doubles as the Knights used a strong third quarter to run past South Charleston.

Pitkin finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Jordan added 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Cabell Midland (12-5).

Lena Villanueva led the Black Eagles with 12 points while Taijah Caldwell added 11.

Grace Jarrell also had 11 assists for Cabell Midland, which plays at Riverside on Wednesday.

Audrey Barber and Abby Watson combined to score 43 of Hurricane's points. Barber had 23 and Watson 20.

The Redskins return to action Friday at Huntington High.

The Highlanders won the first meeting.

Paul Holley and Tyler Burns both scored 15 for Hannan and Brad Fannin had 14 points.

Brandon Elswick had 17 points and Logan Crouse 15 points to lead Van.
