No. 1 St. Joseph girls beat No. 2 Wheeling Central

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. -- Huntington St. Joe and Wheeling Central, ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in Class A girls basketball respectively, met Friday at the Donnie Fenton Invitational.

St. Joe won, 47-39.

Mychal Johnson and Asia Petitte of the Irish had double-double performances. Johnson scored 22 while Petitte scored 14. They both had 10 rebounds.

Colleen McCormick of Wheeling Central (1-1) scored 21.

St. Joe (2-0) plays for the tournament title at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, against the winner between Scott and host Williamstown.

Kiana Evans led Huntington High with 22 points and Dazha Congleton added 17. Dominique Johnson grabbed 14 rebounds.

Jordan scored 14 and had 10 rebounds. Pitkin had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Imani Ward scored 16 for the Big Reds.
