Highlanders win in South Carolina

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Huntington High pushed across five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 5-0 victory over Champaign Central (Ill.) High in high school baseball Monday.

Joey Mundy, Mark Shaver, Nate Haikal and Jordan Turner each drove in a run for the Highlanders (2-0), who collected 13 hits.

Chris Van Camp, Isaiah Settles and Chase Ashworth combined on a one-hitter for Huntington High. Scott Runyan broke up the no-hit bid with a hit in the seventh.

Huntington High and Champaign Central meet again Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Highlanders are in South Carolina for spring break.
