Tolsia trio makes WV all-state team
HUNTINGTON -- Tolsia High School players Krista Maynard, Savannah Winnett and Jordan Presley earned spots on the Class AA all-state girls basketball team.
Maynard, a 5-foot-8 junior guard, was a repeat selection on the all-state first team by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
She averaged 18.7 points, 10.7 rebounds and five assists per game and recorded five triple-doubles during a season when she also surpassed 1,000 career points.
Winnett is a 6-1 junior forward who made the all-state second team. She had 18 double-double games while averaging 15.3 points and 12.1 rebounds.
.Presley was an all-state honorable mention pick. The 5-7 junior guard averaged 10 points, four assists, five steals and three rebounds.
Other honorable mention selections included Ashley Curry from Mingo Central, Kristen Desrocher from Chapmanville and Chrissy Farmer from Mingo Central.
Bridgeport senior Miki Glenn was chosen as captain of the Class AA first team after receiving the same honor on the Class AAA team in 2012.
Bridgeport won a state championship with Glenn posting 23.4 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals per game.
Danielle Brown from state runner-up Westside was captain of the second team. Sarah Barksdale of Robert C. Byrd captains the third team.
