Conner knocks out Boyd County, 12-0
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Blake Hart and Ryan Ward both drove in three runs Tuesday in Conner's 12-0 blanking of Boyd County in the Kentucky high school baseball tournament first round.
Conner's six-inning victory at Whitaker Bank Field put the Cougars (26-9) into the next round at 6 p.m. Thursday against North Bullitt.
Hart delivered a bases-loaded double in the fifth inning when Conner scored four. The Cougars scored four more in the sixth when Ward had a two-RBI single.
Cameron Ross of the Cougars had three hits and was also the winning pitcher. Ross allowed only two hits in four innings.
Zane Purscelley of the Lions (22-16) had two hits. Starting pitcher Billy Ross took the loss.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 8, TATES CREEK 4: The Golden Eagles upset No. 1-ranked Commodores (33-7-1) in a Tuesday first round game.
The Golden Eagles (31-10) advance to an 8:30 p.m. Thursday meeting with the winner of Tuesday's late game between St. Xavier and Union County.
Johnson Central put two on the scoreboard in the first inning on a Bo Robbins single. Blake Gamble's RBI single made it 3-1 in the second inning.
The Golden Eagles broke it open with five runs in the fifth inning. Austin Davis and Chaynse Hill had two-RBI singles and Jordan Young's base hit knocked in another run.
Tate Meade (8-0) came out of the bullpen to notch the win.
Chaynse Hill and Bo Robbins both drove in two Johnson Central runs.
