Boyd County comes back, beats Fairview

SUMMIT, Ky. -- Boyd County overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Fairview 57-49 in the opening round of the 64th District boys basketball tournament Tuesday night.

Now, the Lions advance to the 64th District Championship against Ashland, which will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Boyd County Middle School.

Grayson Griffith led Boyd County (18-13) with 20 points in the win.

Conner Gauze supplied 14 points in the paint for the Lions as well.

Fairview was led by Antwan Washington's 19 points and a 14-point effort by Cameron DeLong.

FAIRVIEW 13 18 11 7 -- 49: Carroll 8, Roy 2, Smith 6, Antwan Washington 19, Cameron DeLong 14.

BOYD COUNTY 9 20 18 10 -- 57: Black 2, Anderson 7, Grayson Griffith 20, Burgess 9, Conner Gauze 14, Mullins 2, Rowsey 3.

POINT PLEASANT 62, LINCOLN COUNTY 60: Wade Martin hit two free throws with 3.2 seconds to play to give the Big Blacks the victory over the Panthers.

Nick Templeton led Point Pleasant (13-5) with 16 points. Martin scored 13 points and Brian Gibbs added 10.

Schylar Kelley led the Lincoln County team (5-14) with 25 points.
