Huntington Prep, Toys for Tots team up
HUNTINGTON -- Huntington Prep Academy's boys basketball program is trying to do its part to spread a little Christmas cheer to people less fortunate this holiday season.
Head coach Rob Fulford said anyone bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the Express' 7 p.m., Wednesday, game at Spring Valley High School against the University of Charleston JV will gain admission to the event for $1.
"Wednesday's game is more important from a community outreach standpoint than it is a basketball game," Fulford said. "We want to make sure people come and support the Toys for Tots and bring a new, unwrapped toy and get in to watch some basketball for $1. It'll be up-and-down and we'll play college-style, which means 40 minutes of action."
Toys for Tots in the Tri-State wraps presents and distributes them to 14 counties in West Virginia and four in Ohio.
Huntington Prep is the nation's No. 1-ranked high school team and has several major college prospects. Fulford said North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Roy Williams will attend the game.
