Point Pleasant goes 8-0

SHADY SPRING, W.Va. — Point Pleasant rolled to its eighth consecutive victory Friday night against Shady Spring, 49-8.

Chase Walton of the Big Blacks carried the football 12 times for 209 yards and scored four touchdowns.

Point Pleasant (8-0) was rated No. 2 in Class AAA this week behind Huntington High, which also remained undefeated. The Shady Spring Tigers are 1-7.

Walton scored on first half runs of 41, 30 and 80 yards as Point Pleasant opened a 42-0 advantage.

Cody Mitchell and Austen Toler also ran for scores in the first half. Levi Russell caught a 20-yard TD pass from Aden Yates.

Point Pleasant went ahead 49-0 with Walton’s fourth touchdown, a 15-yard run in the third quarter.

The Big Blacks outgained the Tigers, 433 total yards to 136. Mitchell added 56 yards to the total on nine rushes. Yates completed 5 of 6 pass attempts for 61 yards.

Point Pleasant puts its undefeated record on the line next week with a 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, home game against Oak Glen.
