Knights go 2-3 in Duals
PARKERSBURG -- Cabell Midland made it to the West Virginia Duals on Saturday and finished with a 2-3 mark in the Third Flight.
Bad weather locally kept the Knights from traveling to Parkersburg on Friday for the first day of action. They had to forfeit all their matches.
Shady Spring, George Washington and Woodrow Wilson didn't make it all and that forced tournament officials to go with seven-team pools.
On Saturday, Cabell Midland beat Calhoun County (36-27) and the All-Stars (72-6).
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy defeated Parkersburg South, 35-27, in the decisive match to go 9-0 and win the overall title for the second straight year. Parkersburg South (8-1) was second.
For the Royals, Nathan Tomasello won by pin at 120 to put his team ahead to stay, 9-6. He's the nation's top-ranked wrestler in that weight class. He's headed to Ohio State.
Cabell Midland, Spring Valley and Huntington High, ranked No. 1 in Class AAA in West Virginia, will be in Parkersburg this Saturday for the Mountain State Athletic Conference Tournament.
BOB ZIDE RUMBLE: Wahama finished seventh in the Bob Zide Wrestling Rumble on Saturday at Williamstown High School. The White Falcons totaled 60.50 points.
East Fairmont won with 163.5 points and Independence took second with 135.
Wahama's Kane Roush (19-1) won the title at 170 pounds.
