Ashland girls eliminated
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Erica Rogers scored 16 points to lead Montgomery County to a 60-49 win over Ashland in the first round of the Kentucky girls' Sweet 16 on Wednesday.
The Indians (28-6) advance to play Marion County (31-0) in a quarterfinal game Friday.
Schyler Tipton had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Montgomery County, and Macie Spence added 13 points. The Indians took control of the game with an 18-6 advantage in the third quarter.
Ashland (25-7) shot just 29.7 percent. Haley Sue Foutch, Sydney Cullop and Kaylyn Gambill led the Kittens with 10 points apiece.
MARION COUNTY 64, BOWLING GREEN 43: Makayla Epps scored 26 points to lead the Knights past Bowling Green (30-5). Epps added eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers had 19 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.
Marion County opened the game on an 18-2 run. Diamond Marshall topped Bowling Green with 15 points.
ANDERSON COUNTY 65, HENDERSON COUNTY 54: Eriel McKee scored 27 points as Anderson County (33-1) beat Henderson County (26-3) in the first round for its first Sweet 16 victory.
Makenzie Cann scored 17 points and notched six assists for the Lady Bearcats. Maci Brown paced the Lady Colonels with 18 points.
SHELBY VALLEY 45, CORBIN 38: Lakyn Mullins and Brianna Fraley netted 15 points each to lead the Lady Cats past the Lady Redhounds. Sarah Ashley paced Corbin with 10 points.
