Midland, HHS, Spring Valley to host Class AAA first-round games

HUNTINGTON -- Cabell Midland, Huntington High and Spring Valley all host Class AAA football first-round playoff games. Hurricane and Point Pleasant play on the road.

Class AAA ratings were announced Saturday night by the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission, setting the top 16 teams. Playoff games begin Friday, but official dates, sites and kickoff times will be determined Sunday at a coaches' meeting in Parkersburg.

Following is the Class AAA lineup

No. 16 Oak Hill (7-3) at No. 1 Cabell Midland (10-0)

No. 15 Woodrow Wilson (6-4) at No. 2 Martinsburg (9-1)

No. 14 Hurricane (6-4) at No. 3 George Washington (8-2)

No. 13 Elkins (7-3) at No. 4 Huntington High (8-2)

No. 12 Point Pleasant (8-2) at No. 5 Morgantown (8-2)

No. 11 Lewis County (8-2) at No. 6 University (8-2)

No. 10 Musselman (7-3) at No. 7 Capital (7-3)

No. 9 Wheeling Park (7-3) at No. 8 Spring Valley (7-3)

Class AA and Class A playoff pairings and other details will be announced following Sunday's meetings.

In the Ohio playoffs, Ironton advanced Friday in Division IV with a victory over Bloom-Carroll and plays a 7:30 p.m., Friday, game against Johnstown-Monroe at a field to be determined.

Lucasville Valley eliminated Coal Grove in Division V on Saturday, 41-16.
