Fairland's boys, girls finish 15th
HEBRON, Ohio -- Fairland's boys and girls both finished 15th in the Ohio Division II State Cross Country meet Saturday at National Trail Raceway.
The Dragons had 308 points in the boys race. The girls totaled 265.
Senior Raine Wireman led the Fairland boys, running the 5K course in 16:53.13 to finish 34th. Junior Chad McComas was 47th in 17:08.56. Other Fairland runners were Logan Rowe, 54th, 17:18.58; Josh Sifford, 85th, 17:51.22; Taylor Lewis, 88th, 17:55.12; Conner Flynn, 93rd, 17:57.99; and Adam Taylor, 106th, 17:57.99.
Woodridge had four runners in the top 20 and won the title with 83 points. Defiance had two in the top 10 and took second with 109.
Mark Iacofano of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary won the race in 15:32.98. Abel Flores of Defiance was second in 15:46.48.
For the girls, Shanan Ashton led Fairland, placing 22nd in 19:36.69. Megan Ashton was 50th in 20:06.74. Other runners were Taylor Perry, 53rd, 20:09.42; Sydney Pettit, 63rd, 20:22.04; Jessica Price, 77th, 20:36.96; Mariah Chaffin, 99th, 21:43.36; and Sarah Warnock, No. 111, 22:49.04.
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary repeated as champion with 53 points and became the fifth school in history with four titles (2009-2012).
In the individual standings, Oakwooid's Mary Kate Vaughn won in 17:41.57. Rachel Iacofano of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary was second in 18:20.70.
In Division III boys, Racine Southern's Kody Wolfe was ninth in 15:58.98.
