Johnson Central advances in Ky. Sweet 16
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kyle Gullett and Truman Salyer scored 22 and 15 respectively Wednesday night as Johnson Central moved past Campbell County, 58-56, in an opening round game of the Kentucky Sweet 16 boys basketball tournament in Rupp Arena.
Campbell County turned the basketball over with 10 seconds left. Dalton Adkins made the steal for Johnson Central and scored on a layup with eight seconds to go.
Johnson Central (26-6) plays again at 1:30 p.m. Friday against Scott County.
Marshall Thundering Herd recruit Shane Hall added nine points, five rebounds and five blocked shots for the Golden Eagles.
Campbell County (21-9) was led by Corey Holbrook's 18 points.
SCOTT COUNTY 77, FLEMING COUNTY 66: Trent Gilbert scored 30 to lead Scott County (33-3).
Gilbert made three of his four 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the third frame.
Raekwon Long, a 7-foot-1 center, added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Troy Steward scored 20 for Fleming County.
HOPKINSVILLE 83, SOUTH OLDHAM 62: Tra Edwards scored 30 to lead Hopkinsville (31-2).
Quan Poindexter followed Edwards with 19 points and Demarius Henry added 15.
Kyle Young led South Oldham (22-5) with 15 points. Jonathan Blair had 14 and Michael Griffin and Drew Greenwood chipped in with 11 each.
LOU. TRINITY 55, OWENSBORO 41: Craig Owens scored 13 for the Shamrocks (30-5).
Trey Ivory and Jax Levitch followed Owens with 10 points each for the Shamrocks.

Owensboro (21-11) was led by Darion Morrow with 13 points.
