St. Joe's Clemons a 2nd team selection
HUNTINGTON -- Keith Clemons from Huntington St. Joe was a Class A boys basketball all-state second team selection as a 5-foot-10 freshman guard.
Clemons led St. Joe to a regional tournament berth and 18-4 finish.
Buffalo senior Layten Good was a third team pick on the squad selected by members of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
All-state honorable mention selections included Payne Meadows and Brian Conaty from St. Joe; Isaiah Robinson from Buffalo; Hunter Bradley of Wahama; Thomas Baisden and Calvin Blankenship of Tug Valley; and John Thomas Keffer from Man.
Class A state champion Wheeling Central had two all-state first team selections -- David Park and Chase Harter. Park, a 6-foot-5 senior guard, averaged 17.9 points for the Maroon Knights. The 6-3 Harter, a sophomore, scored 20.2 per game and had 32 points against Charleston Catholic in the state finals.
Nick George and Garret McCarty from Class A state runner-up Charleston Catholic were also on the first team.
George was named as the all-state captain. The 6-4 senior scored 18.7 a game and eclipsed 1,600 as the school's all-time leader. The 5-10 McCarty put up 18.4 points as a senior point guard.
Clay-Battelle senior Zach Chrisler was the all-state second team captain. Notre Dame freshman Jarrod West was named captain of the third team.
