Fairland to host 'Peake on Friday
HUNTINGTON -- Based on this season and the last 10 meetings, Friday's football clash between Chesapeake and Fairland should light up the scoreboard.
Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Fairland Stadium.
Fairland enters the Ohio Valley Conference matchup at 3-3 for the season and 1-0 in the league.
The high-energy Dragons are scoring 44.0 points per game, but they're also giving up an average of 44.2. Some of the big number games for Fairland were a 74-43 victory last week against South Point, a 55-46 loss to Athens, a 55-32 defeat by Wheelersburg and a 63-38 loss to Gallipolis.
Chesapeake has a 1-5 season record and is also off to a 1-0 start in the OVC after a 28-16 win last week against River Valley.
The Panthers average just 9.3 points and they're allowing 30.5. Last week marked a season scoring high. But, they've given up 63 in a loss to Wayne and 42 in a loss to Portsmouth West.
Chesapeake won last season's clash of the purple-clad Panthers and the green-clad Dragons, 26-19, and has taken the last four meetings.
In the last 10 games of the series the average score was 34 to 24 with the Panthers victorious seven times.
