SOUTH POINT, Ohio -- Gage Townson tossed three touchdown passes to lead South Point to a 23-19 victory over Boyd County at Pointers Stadium on Friday night.
Townson's TD strikes covered 31 yards to Josh Browning and 55 and 47 yards to Mason White. The second to White came with 9:24 left in the fourth period and proved to be the game-winner.
Townson finished 18 of 25 for 262 yards. White caught five for 122 and Browning five for 75 as the Pointers improved to 3-0.
Quarterback Billy McCoy ran for two scores for the Lions. He had 96 yards on 12 carries and Jason Smith 75 on 15 rushes. Cody Tackett added a 70-yard kickoff return for a score for Boyd County.
South Point returns to action this Friday at Lincoln County.

HURRICANE 56, RIVERSIDE 9: Zach Pate's five touchdowns paced Hurricane past Riverside.
Pate rushed for 100 yards and two scores on eight carries. He had 70 yards and one score on three receptions. Also, he had kickoff return touchdowns of 80 and 91 yards.
Hurricane quarterback Austin Hensley passed for three touchdowns -- two of them going to Brandon Ford.
Caperton Humphreys ran for 134 yards on 16 attempts with a 65-yard touchdown.
The Redskins are 2-1 while the Warriors fell to 0-3.
SISSONVILLE 52, TOLSIA 0: Dominic Walker scored three rushing touchdowns for the Indians. Nathan Miller tossed three touchdown passes.
The Indians improved to 3-0 and the Rebels dropped to 0-3.
WINFIELD 49, RIPLEY 20: Chris Turner ran for six touchdowns and the Generals overcame a seven-point halftime deficit. The Generals (2-1) blanked the Vikings (0-3) after halftime.
GALLIPOLIS 63, FAIRLAND 38: Chance Short put Fairland (2-1) ahead early with touchdown passes to Kyle Sowards and Nathan Campbell, but the Blue Devils (2-1) roared back.
Wade Jarrell had 239 passing yards and three touchdowns for Gallipolis. Jarrell also ran for 159 yards and scored four rushing TDs.
Short threw for 296 yards and three scores. Evan Maddox of the Dragons rushed for 141 yards and scored twice. Campbell caught 10 passes for 221 yards and two scores.
LUCASVILLE VALLEY 56, COAL GROVE 21: Nate Arnett of the Valley Indians (3-0) ran for 177 yards and scored four touchdowns.
The Indians won their 23rd consecutive regular season game.
Coal Grove's record slipped to 0-3.
