Second-half surge fuels St. Joe boys
CHARLESTON -- Huntington St. Joe's boys soccer team rallied from a halftime deficit by scoring four goals in the second half during a 4-1 win over Sissonville in the Class A, Region IV, Section 2 semifinal Tuesday at Schoenbaum Stadium.
Christian Yablonsky added the final two goals while Brian Conaty had a goal and an assist to lead Huntington St. Joe (10-1), who will meet Charleston Catholic for the Class A, Region IV section championship at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, at Schoenbaum Stadium.
After Sissonville's Anthony Rinehart scored in the 24th minute to give Sissonville a 1-0 lead at the break, Conaty took a pass from Lakin Brooks to net the equalizer in the 52nd minute.
Conaty decided to give as he had received several minutes later, finding Stephen Jenkins for what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 64th minute.
It didn't take long for the Irish to add insurance.
In the 68th minute, Brooks notched his second assist of the night, finding Yablonsky for his first of two goals. He added the final tally in the last minute to set the score.
