Kentucky's Board of Control voted in favor of the proposal to switch the Kentucky High School Athletic Association championship games in the Sweet 16 for boys and girls to Sunday starting in 2014.
West Liberty coach wins WV College Coach of the Year
The West Virginia Sports Writers Association have voted West Liberty University men's basketball coach Jim Crutchfield as the winner of the Furfari Award/West Virginia College Coach of the Year for a third consecutive year.
Faith Huffman tossed a perfect game in Lincoln County's 10-0, 3-inning win over George Washington in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday. The Panthers struck for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock off Ashland, 9-5, in the nightcap.
Morgantown had scored four runs in the fifth inning and had the tying run at second. Huntington High baseball coach Danny Harbert elected to pull starter Kris Vancamp and summon Isaiah Settle from the bullpen. The message: get this batter out.

On Senior Night, a freshman steps out for HHS
HUNTINGTON -- On senior night for Huntington High softball, it was freshman Madison Howell who stole the show, pitching a complete game and hitting a two-run home run as the Highlanders defeated Chesapeake, 3-1, Friday evening.
WAYNE -- Emily Thompson's second no-hitter of the softball season led Wayne to a doubleheader sweep of Mingo Central.
WAYNE -- Emily Fry and Jacey Parsons each drove in a run and two more came home on wild pitches, helping Wayne to a 4-3 victory over Spring Valley on Thursday.
Midland softball blanks HHS
ONA -- Prior to Thursday's game against Huntington High, each of the three Cabell Midland softball seniors had their letters read over the loudspeaker.
