Wheelersburg looks to capitalize on good season at state tournament

Spring sports season has been a good one at Wheelersburg High School.

In baseball, the Pirates are in Columbus this week for the Ohio Division III State Tournament at Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers of the Class AAA International League. In softball, the Pirates, ranked No. 1 in the state, are off to Akron this week for the Ohio Division III State Tournament at Firestone Stadium.

Midland's Donahue keeps commitment to West Va.

ONA - All is fair in love, war and college football recruiting.

Cabell Midland High School defensive end Reese Donahue, a rising senior, committed in February to play at West Virginia University. That hasn't prevented other programs from continuing to recruit the 6-foot-5, 245-pound Class AAA all-state player.

Hurricane claims Class AAA

VIENNA, W.Va. - For Hurricane High School's softball team Thursday's finish was much sweeter than the start.

After an error-filled start to Class AAA championship game at Jackson Park, the Redskins dominated the final six innings of a 6-2 win over South Charleston.
